Onemain Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

OneMain Holdings, Inc. is an American financial services holding company headquartered in Evansville, Indiana, with central offices throughout the United States. The company wholly owns Springleaf Finance Corporation and its subsidiaries, through which it operates in the consumer finance and insurance industries as OneMain Financial.

An upset customer mentioned, "I was a previous customer of OneMain Holdings and was a victim of their predatory lending tactics. I had a original loan I applied and got approved for and not even a year later they will offer you another loan to wipe out your first loan. Do not believe the pros other than you getting the money the same day when you meet their qualification standard. I paid 2 loans off and as a returning customer my vehicles was too old for collateral for my 3rd loan during Covid and yet my loan the first time around was not unsecured. High interest rates they will hit you with regardless of credit.

OneMain preys on the weak, offering you more than what you ask for to make you think you have good credit and their customer service stinks when you are not qualified. I advise to opt out from all credit offers and join a credit union. It's time to put death to these lending sharks who only seems to want to help themselves MORE than their customers. BEWARE AT ALL COSTS. INTEREST RATES WILL MAKE SURE YOUR LOAN IS PAID BACK DOUBLE. NON NEGOTIABLE TOO."

Current Employee - Assistant Branch Manager says

"Senior leadership does not care about you"

Former Employee - Senior Personal Loan Specialist says

"You will be working Saturdays- two to three a month. You will be expected to achieve excessive moving goal posts that are strategically constructed to create subprime auto loans that clients kill themselves to pay. You will be encouraged to force your clients decision making in order to achieve these goals. You are all but told not to mention if your client actually qualified for a personal loan at the get go. You will constantly double people's auto rates and nearly double the payment approved- and what's worse you will be looked at and told that this is perfectly fine and acceptable. Just remember the dead and broken look in the mangagment's eyes."

Personal Loan Specialist, Key Holder (Former Employee) says

"Do not work here. Save yourself before working with the worlds worst manager. The manager won’t teach you to close a loan then they talk to you about why you haven’t. The district manager is cynical rude and asked illegal questions. The pay is 16 an hour and you will have 0 opportunity for sales due to the slow condition. The customers are MAD because they are ripped off with interest rates that should be illegal. This company is small and really should be closed down. Do not fall for the speech at the beginning. It’s one of the worst jobs I’ve had as a graduate and I was treated HORRIBLY my manager and district manager. I was never trained. You are Thrown to the wolves and asked illegal questions. Free lunch once in a yearPoor/lazy management, low pay, no business or sales opportunity because slow"

"Worst place I’ve worked at in my career. Their goal is to put customers in worse situations. Also in KY expect to work around racially uneducated people. It’s said that that’s the culture they want in this state. I felt uncomfortable more often then not. Management will say the most blankly racist things but then will try to justify it. Best thing I did was leave that place BenefitsManagement, work life, loans, ethics, crooksWe take these matters very seriously, and are committed to a diverse and inclusive environment for our team members, and providing responsible and transparent lending solutions to our customers. "Stay far away. They will over work you and under pay you. If you’re told one Saturday a month, that’s a total joke. You will be there every Saturday, as well as being there later Monday- Friday to collect the high risk loans they approved.Decent time offLate nights, little to no commission for hitting double your goal for the month. We appreciate you reaching out to let us know how you feel. As this is personal for each individual, we encourage our team members to discuss concerns with their direct managers or HR Business Partner. -AS"

Loan Specialist (Current Employee) says

"I use to enjoy working here until my third manager came along. She is very rude and yells at customers and employees. I’ve reached out to DM that didn’t seem to help because she in fact told me tonight after I asked her a question about a policy she’s trying to implement that she’s been begging him to fire me because she can’t stand working with me because I ask weird questions and that he and my RM will be coming down next week to fire me. She has also made rude comments about my appearance. This is not a very professional or healthy work environment.Thank you for taking the time to review us. We take this matter seriously and encourage our team members to have open communication with their direct manager or HR Business Partner. Please reach out to your manager to address your concern. You may also email hrsocialmedia@omf.com. -AS"

Personal Loan Specialist (Former Employee) says

"This was the worst job ever. Stressed out every single day. Not only was I a loan specialist but a cashier and collector. When I wasn't processing loans I had to solicit customers to take more money out which half the time they didn't even qualify once I talked them into letting me run their credit. Had to take the deposit to the bank every day after my shift even though I was the only single parent and had to rush every day to pick up my child.Thank you for your review. We encourage our team members to discuss their individual work life balance needs with their direct managers or HR Business Partner. Formation Directeur (Former Employee) says

"Hated working here. Management wasn't good and the atmosphere was bad. If you love calling 50 people every day and taking money from people with none, this is the job for youThank you for your review. We are disappointed to hear you had a less than positive experience with OneMain. Collection duties are part of the primary duties for individuals including branch and call center staff members. It is important that OneMain protects its loan portfolio and collects on accounts that have become delinquent. We strive to work with our customers to try and find an option that meets the needs of all parties. - CK"

Personal Lending Specialist (Current Employee) says

"Several HR complaints made on Managers and DISTRICT MANAGERS and their HR person does NOTHING Not only do they violate fair lending laws but they HARASS their employees. It seems that district manager is more interested in young women working in the office and flirting with them than actually running the store. Disgusting !NothingEverythingThank you for bringing this to our attention. We take matters of this nature seriously and would like the opportunity to learn more about your concerns. Please reach out to your HR Business Partner and provide details to hrsocialmedia@omf.com."

Branch Manager (Former Employee) says

"The company changed names twice in the short time I was there and the management were not supportive. They constantly change the hours on employees and there is no work life balance yet that is what they promote. Terrible and stressful company to work for with no managment support. We appreciate your review. Our goal is to provide a positive work experience for all team members regardless of their associated legacy company. To accomplish this, we encourage open communication between team members and management to resolve any issues. -CK"

Personal Loan Specialist (Current Employee) says

"This is a great job for college students and people right out of college. You quickly find out that making loans, and hitting targets are more important than the actual employees. You end up working long hours, some days you don’t leave until 9:00pm when the actual office closes at 5:30pm. This company really does not care about their employees and they try to compensate the stress on the employees with the ability to wear jeans. Jeans can’t heal the mental and emotional stress you encounter while working with this company. There’s also no certainty with this company... you can be here today and gone tomorrow. Consider it a blessing if you encounter an understanding branch manager, and a family like group of co-workers, it relieves some of the tension.Great Benefits, Jeans on FridayLong hours, Low Pay, Stressful at TimesThank you for your review. We encourage our team members to discuss their individual work life balance needs with their direct managers or HR Business Partner. Assistant Manager (Former Employee) says

"Your just a number. They expect a lot from you. I worked every saturday for about two years. They make you stay late on some days and you dont get any support from your manager. They have 5 hour rule but lots of times i didnt even get a lunch until 3 pm but was told to clock out for lunch at 1:20. Your constantly under stress. Not only do you have to focus on your numbers you also have to help customers come in with issues and then do all the other stuff thatThank you for your review. Assistant Manager (Former Employee) says

"I worked for OneMain/ Citifinancial for approximately 19 years. I was always the top performer in lending in Mortgages , Personal Loans, and collections every month. When I reported others for field calling around 2003 ( Against HO policy per 2000 memorandum) , DM and another BM fabricated several things about me and I was told there was no longer a place for me in the company.NaSee ReviewThank you for bringing this to our attention. Loan (Former Employee) says

"I believe it depends on the Branch you work @; I don’t think ALL of the branches reflects how the company is based off the 1 I worked @. The Branch Manager started off nice and helpful. As time went on, “meeting goals” was more important than employees clearly. I describe him as kissing the DM’s butt cause that’s all he did. Someone else who was only there for a check, only hit goal ONCE while I was there & that’s the one he seem to love. Allowed the underperforming employee to talk to the customers how she felt with a very nasty tone. As a “manager” he could care less about the real intentions which is HELPING the customers, as long as he met goal. He constantly promoted predatory lending & said is was ok & expected for the employees to take disrespect. Why you say? Because it was all about the #’s. Never worked @ a company who would even allow any mistreatment of associates to be “expected. He doesn’t care about the people n the Branch if goal wasn’t hit & making HIS bonus more. In the interview & how the company was portrayed as “this is the best decision for you to come join us”, turned out to be the COMPLETE opposite. I should have took heed on how dry the recruiter was during the interview process as well as that manager, which showed that they’re just there to get a check as well. Based on that experience alone, I would NEVER work for this company again nor refer Anyone to get a loan from this company. If you desire, professionalism and growth potential, stay awayWe're sorry to hear about your experience. We are committed to providing a positive and open work environment. We are committed to responsible lending and would like to know more. You may send any additional feedback to hrsocialmedia@omf.com for HR review. -CK"

Collector (Former Employee) says

"One Main is all about the money you collect. Don't care about employees when comes to pay. They push push push you to do more and more but when come yearly review for pay you may get 12 cents They don't care about employees at allWe appreciate and read through all of our reviews, both positive and constructive. We strive to keep our pay rates competitive with our industry and geographic locations. We will share your feedback with our compensation review team. Thank you - CK"
